Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in the SAR Early Learning Center. We look forward to getting to know you over the next several months as you explore the educational opportunities available at SAR.

SAR takes great pride in creating an academically challenging environment while instilling in our students the fundamental tools for citizenship within a Jewish and pluralistic society.

INFORMATION SESSIONS FOR PROSPECTIVE PARENTS

Please join us at one of our information sessions in order to learn more about our school, our curriculum & our community.  At the information session you will have the opportunity to hear from Rabbi Krauss and other administrators as well as experience our school in session.
Each session last approximately seventy five minutes.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Admission Guidelines:

Please reference the table below to determine the class for which your child is eligible to be enrolled in September.

By September 30th, your child will have turned...For inclusion in...

Admissions Process:

Complete and submit the online application and the application fee of $150.   

Once your completed application is received, a meeting will be scheduled for you and your child with the ELC Associate Principal, Alana Rifkin Gelnick. During this meeting you will have the opportunity to tour the school. An initial assessment of your child's developmental skills is made through games and conversation with your child. Mrs. Rifkin Gelnick values the opportunity to get to know each prospective family through this very personal application process.

For applications completed by December 19, 2016 (including school visits and scholarship assistance, if applicable), admissions and scholarship decisions will be made by January 9, 2017.

After December 19, 2016 we will begin rolling admissions. Places will be filled on a space-available basis. 

Scholarship Assistance:

Since its inception, SAR has been committed to ensuring that all students admitted to the school have the benefit of an SAR education. No student is turned away from the school due to financial need. SAR’s scholarship program assists families based on demonstrated need.

Scholarship Assistance: Applications for scholarship must be submitted on or before April 15, 2017. Admission and scholarship decisions are made independently of each other.  If all scholarship materials are submitted by December 19, 2016, you will be notified of the scholarship committee's decision at the same time as the admissions committee decision.

Open House & Prospective Parent Information Sessions: Please join us to learn more about our school.  The Open House is wonderful opportunity to meet the ELC, Grades 1-5 and Middle School Administration and to learn about our school.  The information sessions include a discussion with Rabbi Krauss and a tour of our school.

Application & Student Evaluation

Once all materials are submitted (application, test scores and application fee) a parent and student meeting will be setup with Rabbi Krauss, the school psychologist and the appropriate Judaic Studies Associate Principal. The school psychologist conducts an informal interview and brief academic screening of the prospective student. The prospective student also visits a class at his/her academic grade level both to observe and take part in lessons.

The parents will also meet with the school psychologist to discuss his/her child and the opportunities they see by transferring to SAR.  In addition, a school tour is offered to parents and student.

Applications completed by January 22, 2017 (including school visits) will be notified by mid-February of the school's decision.  Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
