Our parent community is at the heart of all we do at SAR. It has been through the dedicated involvement of our parents working in concert with the administration and faculty, that each year we have exciting and innovative programs, fund-raisers, and learning programs. These programs and the parents who run them, add a special deminsion to the culture and warmth of our school.

The Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the educational and social environment at SAR. The PTC works throughout the year, on a variety of events: fundraising, social, and educational. Meetings are held to keep parents informed, and to facilitate communication between the administrators and the parent body. We count on your support and participation for our success. We encourage and welcome families to volunteer for various activities. Parents who participate invariably find their experience rewarding. Please contact the PTC co-presidents, Benay Meisels (imeisels@optonline.net) and Diane Hill (dianehny@optonline.net) to get involved with activities at the Academy. If you would like to become involved with SAR High School PTC activities, please contact Daphne Eidman (daph613@aol.com).

Marsha Winokur z”l’s clear vision of collaboration between parents, educators and professionals helped shape the SAR community’s unique view of supporting the wholeness of each child. That perspective inspired her to facilitate the creation of many new projects in the New York area through the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s services. One such project lead to the creation of a series of newsletters that address practical ideas and insights for parents in a reader-friendly style. Those of us who have read the newsletters have been enriched by their content and common sense wisdom. We are proud to be able to share them with the wider SAR community.
Marsha Winokur z”l was on staff for over 35 years as our School Psychologist and Consultant. Her wisdom and guidance continues to be a key factor in our school's ability to address each student's individual needs.
