We are excited to launch a new program that extends our love of learning and reading, together with one of SAR’s core values– caring about others. This pilot program is an outgrowth of SAR’s 5782 Theme of the Year: Shemita. The program “Sharing Our Crop: SAR’s Little Free Libraries” is designed to benefit the neighborhoods and people in which each installation serves.
Tasteful wood library boxes will be stained on the outside and decorated on the inside by SAR students. They will be installed at their new homes with students accompanying the library box and celebrating the event. These little libraries organically create momentum of neighborly collaboration and sharing within the communities they are housed.
Opportunities To Participate:
- Host a Little Library! If you would like to have a Little Free Library installed on your property, please let us know. We hope to have these beautiful boxes in White Plains, New Rochelle, Scarsdale, North Riverdale, Riverdale, Englewood, Teaneck, and Stamford to start. We will have these libraries at SAR Academy and SAR High School as well – and maybe one day Israel!!
- Dedicate a Little Library! If you are interested in dedicating one of the boxes, let us know. Each box will also have a plaque that can include an inscription that honors someone or might perhaps be dedicated in the memory of a loved one.
Our Little Free Libraries will share our educational values, providing the gift of reading in our communities– and we would love for you to join us in this endeavor.
Please respond below if you are interested in housing or dedicating a lending library.
